Amelia Bedelia was adopted Saturday, January 8, 2022!
Say hello to Amelia Bedelia! Amelia and her large family (momma and her SEVEN kittens – Momma Babe, Ramona Quimby (adopted), Curious George (adopted), Matilda Wormwood (adopted), Paddington Bear (adopted), Madeline (adopted), and Corduroy (adopted) – were rescued from Devore Shelter in San Bernardino at the end of June when she and her siblings were barely 8 weeks old.

Amelia Bedelia was very wary and shy at first and took a little while to adjust to her new environment, but soon she learned to trust her foster mom and settled in comfortably to her foster home.

The whole family was named for classic Children’s Storybook characters, and while Amelia doesn’t misunderstand everything like the girl in the stories, she can be a little misunderstood.

Her shy nature with new people can make them think she’s not very friendly, but really she just needs some time to realize that these new people have hands that will give her all the back scratches and belly rubs that she LOVES! That’s right … once she warms up to you, this gorgeous girl will be stretching out in front of you, demanding some love and attention! She even settles in for some snuggles with her foster mom at bedtime.
Amelia loves to chase her brothers and sisters through the house and to bat a spring toy or a stuffed mouse around. She’s not a huge fan of the corgi that lives with her, but she tolerates her when that corgi is being nice and calm. Amelia can often be found in a pile snuggling with her momma and siblings, the resident cats, and even with the litter of younger foster kittens in her foster home.
Because she’s used to having many friends around, she must be adopted with another kitty, or into a home with a resident cat that can be her friend and help her feel comfortable in her new home. While not required, we think she may do best if she’s adopted with one of her siblings.
Amelia has tested negative for FIV and FeLV, is current on her vaccines, has been spayed, and she’s been microchipped! If you’d like to turn the page of your story with Amelia Bedelia by your side, then what are you waiting for? Apply to adopt this sweet, beautiful girl today!
